Riding toward Loch Lomond

Monday, June 19, 2017

Motherwell to Luss, Scotland

43 miles, 827 feet of climbing

Today's ride was one of our easier rides, as most of our route kept us on cycle paths, as we traveled north toward Luss.  We rode along the River Clyde, through the city of Glasgow, and finally, along Loch Lomond.  It started as a cool and cloudy day - it even looked like it might rain at one point, but by late morning, the sun came out and we had great weather for the remainder of the day.  It was a relatively quick ride - not a lot of climbing, although there was a fair amount of navigating the many turns on and off the cycle paths needed to get through the many cities and towns we rode through.  We arrived in Luss just after 1 p.m., so we took some time to ride around and see the town.  Luss is a very small, but upscale resort town.  We walked down to the dock, where boat tours are launched, to get a full view of Loch Lomond.  It was a pleasant and relaxed "active recovery" day on the bike.
