Luss to Loch Awe, Scotland
55 miles, 2,507 feet of climbing
This was a stellar day! Sunny, warm conditions, two gentle climbs, each one providing spectacular views, a castle, a jail and a couple of lochs. We rode by Inveraray Castle, which is the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. It is located on the shore of Loch Fyne. In contrast, we also rode by the Inveraray Jail, a 19th century jail and courthouse. It ceased operation as such in 1889, and is now a museum. We had a fun day of riding and seeing the sights. Our destination town, Loch Awe, is a tiny but somewhat upscale area where pretty much everything closes at 6 p.m. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful night to walk around town and take in the vast sights of Loch Awe.
