Moffat to Motherwell, Scotland
62 miles, 2,900 feet of climbing
Today, our route started with a seven-mile gentle climb out of Moffat. It was a cloudy, cool but humid morning, but no rain is predicted, so I'm thrilled. There was a considerable amount of fog this morning, and the higher we ascended the climb, the foggier it got - to the point you couldn't see more than 50 feet in front of you. Once we started to descend, the fog began to dissipate, the sun came out, and magnificent scenery came into view. We rode through farm land with lush green fields and the ever-present cows and sheep. We stopped in a town called Biggar for a cappucino break (because, as our Tour Leader advised, Biggar is better). After this morning's initial climb, the remainder of the route consisted of flat or rolling terrain, so it was a relatively fast ride to Motherwell. Today turned out to be a beautiful, sunny and warm day - the kind of weather we've been waiting for.
