Day 5 - Rest Day in West Yellowstone, Montana
Visit to Yellowstone National Park

Today was a true rest day off the bike.  Art & I and a group of fellow riders - 13 of us in all - rented a van and drove 30 miles to spend some time at Yellowstone National Park.  The weather was clear, cool and sunny - perfect for taking a foot tour of the geysers in the southeast section of the park.  We took a foot path from the Black Sand Basin up and around to the Old Faithful Lodge and Visitor Center.  During our walk, we got to see several smaller geysers and hot springs, including Emerald Pool, Morning Glory Pool, Riverside Geyser and Castle Geyser.  Our walk ended at the Old Faithful Lodge, where we watched Old Faithful erupt, which was something I've always wanted to see.  During our visit we also saw an elk and several bison. A couple of the bison were standing right near the road, as big as life.  It was a interesting and fun way to spend our rest day.  Tomorrow, it's back on the bike as we head to Jackson, Wyoming!
